Archery to be held in Carson for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games

CARSON, Calif. – The state-of-the-art sports facility in Carson, Calif. - home to LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer – will host the archery competition at both the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

For the Olympics, archery will unfold on the main stadium field on the completion of the rugby sevens tournament. The Paralympic archers will take center stage in 2028 at a venue which will also host para track cycling and wheelchair tennis.

The 2028 Olympic Games will involve compound archery for the first time. A compound mixed team competition will be included, in addition to the five medal events in the recurve division.

As host nation, the USA will have full quotas for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Archers wanting to make the USA team will go through a qualification process involving trials.

The LA28 Olympic Games run from July 14-30. The Paralympic Games are scheduled to take place between August 15-27, 2028.

The city of Carson is approximately 17 miles south of Los Angeles. The venue boasts a 27,000-seater stadium, with a natural grass field. Opened in 2003, it has hosted concerts from the likes of Kenny Chesney, Snoop Dog, Nicki Minaj and the Dave Matthews Band. The Los Angeles Chargers of the NFL called it home from 2017-2019, while the final of the 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cup was held there.

Due to every competition venue being within a 35-mile radius, for the first time since Rio 2016, Paralympians across every sport will have the opportunity to be housed together at the Olympic and Paralympic Village which will be based on UCLA’s campus.
