USA Archery and US Collegiate Archery Program Announce Agreement

Colorado Springs, CO - USA Archery and the US Collegiate Archery Program (CAP) have reached a mutual agreement regarding the status of the US Collegiate Archery Program. Under this agreement, CAP will remain part of USA Archery; yet will operate independently, similar to the current structure of state associations. The US Collegiate Archery Program will continue to maintain its self-governance and autonomy, as it has since 1966. CAP will continue working with all archery organizations to provide opportunities for its athletes.

Individual Collegiate USA Archery members will not see any changes with regard to the collection of dues and the administration of their membership, which will continue to be done through USA Archery. The Collegiate Archery Program will continue to manage athlete eligibility. Collegiate archers will continue to be eligible to compete in all USA Archery and International events through their individual membership. They will also be eligible for USA Archery honors and awards including the US Archery Team.  The fees collected for college individual and club membership will be split between USA Archery and the US Collegiate Archery Program.

Collegiate club members will pay their dues directly to the U.S. Collegiate Archery Program. Links and information regarding collegiate club membership will be posted on the US Collegiate Archery Program website (www.uscollegiatearchery.org). College clubs will be considered USA Archery clubs for benefit and insurance purposes.

"This agreement provides for the long term stability of college archery." said Lorretta Sinclair, CAP Director. "The relationship with USA Archery is an important part of the success for our athletes and clubs."

"The US Collegiate Archery Program is vital to USA Archery in continuing to develop the athletes' skills and building the athlete pool," said Denise Parker, USA Archery CEO. "With this agreement in place, we feel we have a strong relationship with CAP. We feel they will have the operating structure and funding that will allow them to grow and flourish as a program."

Both USA Archery and the US Collegiate Archery Program look forward to a continued and strong relationship as both organizations work toward the goal of growing the sport of archery and supporting coaches, athletes and their members.
