USA Archery Opens Registration for 2016 U.S. National 3-D Collegiate Championships

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - USA Archery is partnering with the Archery Shooters Association to host the inaugural U.S. National 3-D Collegiate Championships October 6-9th in London, Kentucky. We are excited to announce that registration for this event is now open.

USA Archery will sanction the championship hosted by ASA, which will follow ASA rules and require USA Archery membership and collegiate eligibility for registration. The event will run according to the 2016 ASA Pro/Am Rules of Competition and offer classes for Barebow, Compound, Recurve, and Bowhunter divisions. USA Archery equipment rules will be in place.

USA Archery has been excited to see tremendous growth in the bowhunter, basic compound and barebow classes. As we expand to meet the diverse interests of our member groups, we are pleased that in addition to national collegiate event opportunities for Indoor, Outdoor, and Field Archery, we can add this National 3-D Championship to our event offerings.

NASP superstar siblings turned USA Archery Collegiate standouts Emily and Chris Bee (Howell, Michigan) shared our excitement as they are preparing for their first 3-D event. "The only competitions I have been to have involved shooting at paper," commented Emily. "I am so excited to switch it up a bit and shoot at some foam in the woods! Collegiate archery has given me a lot of opportunities in my archery career and I am excited to expand it to 3-D. It will open up a whole new world with different archers and different environments."

"As a freshman at Michigan State, Collegiate archery is new to me and I am looking forward to expanding my archery career with it," added Chris. "Similar to Emily, I have only shot competitions involving paper targets, but I am glad that Collegiate archery gives me an opportunity to shoot 3-D."

Archers at Hocking College were also incredibly enthusiastic. Representing a group of long-time 3-D archers, Hocking coach Steve Dietz echoed: "I am excited because it's right up the archers' alley. It is something with which they are familiar."
