In the World Rankings released by FITA this week, the U.S. has climbed in more than one category, thanks to a strong start at the first World Cup Stage in Porec, Croatia earlier this month.
Erika Anschutz (Dumas, TX) now leads the compound women's category, following her gold medal win in Porec. Anschutz is joined in the #1 spot by Team USA's Rodger WIllett, Jr. (Virginia Beach, VA) for the men's category; Braden Gellenthien (Woodbridge, VA) also holds a third place World Ranking. Anschutz and Willett also top the current season's World Cup rankings.
The U.S. compound teams are also occupying top positions in the FITA World Ranking, with the men's team holding the number one spot, and the women's team in second.
On the recurve side, World Cup Final gold medalist Brady Ellison (Glendale, AZ) now holds a number three ranking; Ellison is also currently ranked #1 in the World Cup standings for 2011. The U.S. men's recurve team occupies the second spot in the World Rankings. Overall, the United States is also the top ranked country in the 2011 World Cup Nations Ranking.
