Springfield Community Olympic Development Program Seeks Head Coach

Springfield-Greene County Board's CODP Head Archery Coach

Primary Purpose:

To promote, mange and supervise all aspects of the Springfield-Greene County Park Board's archery programs including programs associated with the Community Olympic Development Program (CODP). 

Supervision:

Under the general supervision of Director of Parks, Assistant Director, or designee. Supervises temporary staff assigned to the archery program. 

Description of Work:

Essential Functions:

  1. Plans, promotes, and supervises the Springfield-Greene County Park Board's archery program.
  2. Plans, organizes, and conducts a comprehensive archery program including but not limited to lessons and tournaments to ensure continuous use of archery facilities year round.
  3. Develops and implements short and long-range program plans based on needs assessments.
  4. Evaluates programs and services and makes recommendations based on findings.
  5. Initiates, maintains and develops effective working relationships/partnerships with schools, governmental units, businesses and community based organizations.
  6. Actively participates in required United States Olympic committee (USOC) and Community Olympic Development Program (CODP) activities.
  7. Promotes archery programs and services by developing and distributing informational materials, media releases and personal contacts.
  8. Supervises local archery participants at competitive, recreational and training events.
  9. Handles archery program staffing issues including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, supervising and disciplining temporary employees.

10.   Teaches proper safety protocols and enforces rules within the archery facilities.

11.  Oversees the opening and closing of all archery facilities.

12.  Oversees the maintenance and upkeep of all related buildings, properties and equipment.

13.  Requisitions archery supplies and merchandise as needed for the archery program.

14.  Maintains complete and accurate records of all building equipment and assets.

15.  Maintains accurate financial and enrollment records on all programs.

16.  Completes reporting as required by CODP and the Paralympic programs.

17.  Other related duties as assigned

Important functions:

  1. Attends conferences, workshops, seminars, and other training for professional development purposes.
  2. Participates in relevant regional and national associations.

Qualifications Required:

Any combination of education, training, and experience providing the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

Knowledge

Knowledge of principles, procedures and techniques in developing and implementing archery program. Knowledge of uses, management and operations of archery facilities; market and administer public relations information to the general public; analyze and evaluate community programs and supply appropriate information pertaining to management such as marketing and budget information; develop, plan and implement large special events for the community; make sound recommendation utilizing judgment; communicate clear goals and objectives; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; maintain accurate records and prepare clear and comprehensive reports; follow oral and written instructions; present an overall professional image; work effectively and courteously with outside associations and agencies, program participants, associates and the general public; perform effectively as a member of the team in carrying out the City's, County's and Park Board's stated mission and philosophy; perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of others.

Experience, Education and Training

Requires a bachelor's degree plus at least 4 years in the field of archery.

Physical Requirements

Performs bending and reaching to both ground level and overhead; lifts, carries, pushes and pulls 60 pounds; hold and grips objects, May be subjected to long periods of standing or walking for the purpose of conduction classes.

Working Environment

Primarily indoor working environment; may be exposed to extreme heat, cold, dust and/or pollen when supervising or coordinating recreational programs held outdoors.

Licensing/certifications

Preferred USA Archery Elite Coach Certification. If operating a motor vehicle for the purpose of completing job duties, must possess a valid Missouri Motor Vehicle Operator's license.

Miscellaneous requirements

Subject to working some holidays, weekends and evening hours based on the needs of the archery program.
