Seven Archers Advance to Medal Matches at Parapan Am Games

Today U.S. archers completed the elimination rounds with seven of nine team members advancing to tomorrow's medal rounds. There are five medals up for grabs, with two of the matches featuring U.S. athletes pitted against one another.

Tomorrow's competitions will feature D'Arce Hess (Nevada City, Calif.) shooting for bronze in the women's individual recurve. U.S. teammates Natalie Wells (San Diego, Calif.) and Lee Ford (Atlanta, GA.) will face off against one another in the gold medal match in the women's individual recurve event.

Army veteran Russell Wolfe (Williamsburb, VA.) will compete for the bronze inthe men's individual recurve event. Sergenat Michael Lukow (Ft. Sam Houston, Texas), a member fo the Army's World Class Athlete Program, will compete for gold in the men's individual recurve event.

And U.S. teammates Matt Stutzman (Fairfield, Iowa) and Army veteran Dugie Denton (Joilet, Mont.) will battle for the bronze in the men's individual compound open event.

The 2011 Parapan American Games are taking place in Guadalajara from November 7-22, with the archery event running through Thursday of this week. The Parapan Am Games, which are being held for the fourth time in 2011, is a multi-sport event for disabled athletes which historically follows the Pan American Games, held every four years.
