Registration Open: Paralympic Team Trials

Chula Vista, CA - USA Archery has opened registration for the U.S. Paralympic Team Trials - Archery. This is an open event following the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) selection procedures, which permits all USA Archery members to compete in the 2012 Paralympic Games, provided the United States has secured a quota slot in their sport classification.

Recent changes to the 2012 U.S. Paralympic Trials - Archery Selection Procedures will allow ANY U.S. para-archer to compete in sport classifications in which the U.S. has earned a quota slot.  The change in the U.S. Paralympic Team Trials - Archery aligns  with the Olympic Team Trials selection procedures, allowing archers with dreams of the Paralympics to compete.

Six quota slots are available for nomination during the 2012 U.S. Paralympic Team Trials - Archery. Jeff Fabry, a Paralympic Games medalist, has already qualified for the Paralympic Games thanks to his top-three performance at the 2011 World Archery Para Championships.

The seven available quota slots are divided among five sport classifications, including two quota slots for Compound Men Open, two for Compound Men W1 (one quota slot has been qualified by Fabry), and one each for Recurve Standing Men, Recurve Standing Women and Recurve Men W1/W2.

As part of their registration, all archers who have not yet been IPC Internationally Classified will need to undergo classification prior to the beginning of the Trials event. The IPC Classification will take place on April 23-24, with appointments available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
