Eric Bennett Wins Gold at Nove Mesto

NOVE MESTO, Czech Republic - World Champion Eric Bennett has locked up his slot for the 2016 U.S. Paralympic Archery Team. In what will be his third consecutive Games with his third unique equipment set-up, Bennett is in his groove and looking stronger than ever for gold in Rio after picking up gold at the Para World Ranking event this morning.

Seeded second individually in qualification this past week and after winning team bronze yesterday, Bennett opened his match against top seeded archer, Russia's Sergey Khutakov with a 2-0 advantage. A six in the second set gave Khutakov an open door to bring the match to a 2-2 tie.

Another 6 from Bennett in the third set let Khutakov take the set and a 4-2 lead. Not to be denied the win, Bennett came back with a 27 to take the fourth set and another 27 to take the match win and the gold.
