Budding Reporters Wanted for 2011 Archery World Cup

Ogden Archery World Cup Committee Launches Search for Archery Fan Reporter

Ogden, Utah - The Ogden Archery World Cup Organizing Committee is conducting a nationwide search to find the best aspiring young writers, filmmakers, photographers and journalists. Two lucky individuals will become International Archery Federation (FITA) Fan Reporters for the third stage of the 2011 Archery World Cup in Ogden, Utah this August. The selected reporters will have a chance to win an all-expense paid trip to Istanbul for the World Cup Finals in September.

FITA is offering two budding journalists the chance of a lifetime - to report from the third, and only North American stage, of the Archery World Cup on August 2-6. The committee is searching for two volunteers, one orientated to cinema and video, and the second relating to media and/or journalism. Reporters will gain exclusive behind the scenes access to world champions and Olympic athletes as they chronicle the event in Ogden, Utah. The opportunity gives students a chance to showcase their work internationally.

The Archery Fan Reporters selected will work with the FITA TV production team to create short (three to five minute) daily interviews regarding all aspects of the premier competition, both on and off the field. The stories will showcase some of the star archers during serious or fun interviews as well as back of the scene footage of the event. Reporters will videotape, edit, embed music, write scripts and arrange interviews. Stories will broadcast internationally on FITA's WebTV platform.

Those interested may submit a three to five minute video and 300 to 500 word description communicating why they should become the next Archery Fan Reporter.  Deadline submission is July 15, 2011 at midnight MST. Submissions may be emailed to [email protected]. To submit by mail send with attention to Archery Fan Reporter to 5040 west Harold Gatty Dr., SLC, UT 84116. Winners will be individually notified.

The position is open to individuals, preferably students, between the ages of 16 to 30. They must be comfortable operating HD video cameras, computer technology and willing to develop a daily story. The Fan Reporter is a volunteer position. Reporters must be available August 1 through 7. The Ogden Archery World Cup Organizing Committee will provide room and board, but reporters must provide their own transportation to Ogden.

The Fan Reporters' work will be judged by the FITA review panel for a chance to win an all-expense paid trip to report at the 2011 World Cup Finals in Istanbul. Fan reporters from each stage of the competition will be considered to win the grand prize. The all-expense paid trip will be provided by FITA.
