Shamrock Shoot

The 2023 “St. Patrick’s Day” Shamrock Shoot, hosted by the Brandeis University Archery Club, is a USA Archery-recognized event. It will be shot on one line, with Open practice beginning at 9:00AM. There will be a “Walk Back” session from 08:30 – 09:00AM for those who have yet to get their marks. This INDOOR event consists of OUTDOOR distances (70/60/50 meters), shot in a FITA-style ranking round consisting of a 720 round (12 ends of 6 arrows) within a four minute period per end for all competitors. At the conclusion of qualifying, there will a single elimination tournament, head-to-head World archery format (3 arrow ends in two minutes) for the top 8 archers in each division. It will be shot in 5 ends with the set style (first to 6) format for recurve/barebows, and total score format for compounds. All Recurve competitors will shoot a 122 cm FITA multicolor face at 70 meters, all compound competitors at an 80 cm FITA multicolor face at 50 meters, all Barebow competitors will compete at 50 meters using the 122 cm target.

The Shamrock Shoot serves as a key fundraiser for the Brandeis University Archery Club. It aids the team in the purchasing of equipment and traveling to events, so your support is truly appreciated!

Eligibility and Dress Code  

FITA Constitution and Rules as well as USA Archery Dress Code will be in effect and strictly observed for all competitors.

All competitors must be members of either USA Archery or NFAA with a valid temporary membership.

Equipment Inspection

All equipment must be inspected prior to receiving score cards for the safety of all competitors.  

Awards

There will be a 1 hour break starting once all qualifying scorecards are received. Only the top 8 archers in each category will be eligible to compete in the Elimination round and if there are not enough competitors in a category the Tournament Director may merge like groups. Archers, who qualify for the Elimination round and decide not to compete in the Elimination round, will forfeit their position and there will be no substitution. 

Individual awards will be presented immediately following the conclusion of the competition.

Non-competitors will be able to observe the competition from bleachers behind the shooting line.

* Please arrive before 9:00AM as practice will begin promptly at 9:00AM and security will begin limiting access in the field house.
