BSA Chickasaw Council Level 1 Practical - James

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION TO OBTAIN THE US ARCHERY LEVEL 1 ARCHERY CERTIFICATION FOR BSA CHICKASAW COUNCIL:

The Practical Level 1 class will be taught by Jimmie James, a US Archery Level 3 Coach and Instructor Trainer. Previous archery experience is not required for Level 1 or 2 for course participants.

Course requirements consist of the $40 US Archery Level 1 online class (Course Information and Registration) and "fee-assessed hands-on” Practical exam by a BSA Chickasaw Council USA Archery Instructor Trainer. 

Once both course segments are completed, participants may download their official USA Archery Level 1 Instructor certificate valid for three years which is renewable on the USA Archery website. Successful completion of all US Archery Level 1 course requirements provides the necessary training for scout leaders (18 and older) to teach Cub Scout Range Master classes, supervise Chickasaw Council Cub Day camp archery; and teach the BSA Archery Merit Badge as well as running archery programs for BSA Troops and Crews.

Instructor candidates will learn to operate a safe yet fun archery range. The course covers range setup and safety, proper equipment, aspects of good shooting form and methods of teaching.

This US Archery Level 1 course is taught in two sequential parts:

·     (1) A three-hour Archery Level 1 Instructor Certification Online Course (completed by the instructor candidate prior to the Practical; and a four to six hour “in-person” Practical portion which is to be reserved through the USA Archery website scheduled for 18October2025 at 8:30 AM.  Upon successful completion of the online course, students may then register for this in-person Practical Course. Minimum age is 15.   

This Practical Level 1 course is approximately 4-6 hours at a cost of $20 for registered BSA Scout Leaders and $50 for non-scout adults.  Please verify the date you plan to attend.
