GCC Level 1 Instructor Practical

Thank you for your interest in becoming a USA Archery Level 1 Certified Instructor

The Level 1 Archery Instructor Certification Course provides graduates the necessary tools to maintain a high-level of safety both on and off the archery range and ensure that minimum standards for archery instruction are consistently taught to provide for the safety and enjoyment of the participants, instructors and spectators.

Level 1 Instructors are well prepared to teach beginner archery programs to people of all ages and abilities in a variety of both indoor and outdoor settings in the disciplines of target, field or 3-D archery. The Level 1 Instructor will learn about range safety, range setup, the steps of shooting, equipment and repair, programs and lesson plans.

Supplies Required

  • All attendees must bring a signed BSA Health Form Parts A & B. Participants under 18 must have a parent/guardian signature as well
  • Adults 18 and older must bring proof of current Youth Protection Training (YPT) - this can be completed via my.scouting.org
  • Appropriate clothing for Colorado's changing weather - shooting exercises will be conducted outside (rain or shine!)
  • Water Bottle, snacks and any medical supplies necessary.
  • Pen/pencil/highlighter to take notes.

Do NOT bring any Bows or arrows! These will be provided as necessary. IF you wish to bring your own for qualification shoots, you must contact the lead instructor ahead of time. Usage is subject to the discretion of the instructor(s).

Lodging and Meals

The course will be held at McNeil Scout Ranch at Peaceful Valley (MSR). Please allow plenty of time to drive, park, walk to class. This includes at least 15 min at camp for driving and checking in at HQ. The class is held at McNeil Scout Ranch at Peaceful Valley 22799 North Elbert Road Elbert, Colorado 80106. Turn in at the south entrance marked Gate 1 and check in at HQ. Parking will be at the Range lot, and you will need to walk to the dining hall where the class will be held downstairs in Gilwell Hall. Please allow 10 minutes for this walk.

Lunch will be provided with the course, and you can bring any additional drinks and snack that you might want during the class. Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions.

Cost - $90 Paid on the Doubleknot signup. Note an additional $40 cost to USA Archery is required for the online portion of the course. If you are taking this for camp staff, please pay the $40 for the online portion and bring your receipt to be reimbursed by camp. For camp staff only, the $90 fee will be paid by the camp.

CANCELLATION POLICY

There is a firm no refund policy and the class will be held rain or shine. Please check your calendar and plan ahead accordingly. If there is an emergency or your are ill and unable to attend, you can apply the fees toward another DAC Shooting Sports training class within one year from the date of this course.
