LEVEL 3 COACH PRACTICAL COURSE - Jonathan Clemins

This two-day virtual course is designed for archery coaches who have completed the USA Archery Level 3-NTS Online Coach Course and are ready to take the next step in their coaching journey. The course focuses on developing practical coaching skills, with an emphasis on applying the concepts and tools taught in the online course. Participants will learn how to effectively model and teach the National Training System (NTS) Steps of Shooting for both recurve and compound archers, utilize coaching methods to support athlete development, and design individualized training sessions. Special attention will be given to building a personal coaching philosophy, understanding how athletes learn, and creating long-term plans that address both physical and mental aspects of performance.

This Level 3-NTS Coach Certification Course shifts the focus from group instruction to individualized athlete development. Coaches will receive in-depth training on coaching philosophy, mental skills, training cycles and periodization, event preparation, and equipment tuning, along with advanced instruction on the NTS framework. This is an in-person session located at the University of Rio Grande in Rio Grande, OH.

To successfully complete the course, candidates must be at least 19 years old and have already completed and passed the online portion of the Level 3-NTS Coach Course. Each candidate must also come prepared with a draft of their coaching philosophy, and must have memorized the recurve and compound Steps of Shooting, including key points for each step and the 8 Software Steps, prior to attending. Participants are expected to demonstrate and explain these steps during the course, as well as apply coaching methods and training plan design in real-time scenarios. A practical exam will be administered during the course to assess competency in these areas.

The course fee is $350. A minimum of four students is required to hold the course, and in the event of low enrollment, participants will be notified at least five days prior to the scheduled start date if the course needs to be rescheduled.
