Proposed Bylaws

USA Archery Members,

USA Archery is in the process of changing our governance structure. This process began with a board proposal over a year ago to restructure the board composition to be more in line with our programs and membership categories. The new bylaws reflect the same new governance reform that has taken place at the U.S. Olympic Committee as well as other NGB’s and national non-profit organizations.

The new board structure will include 20% representation by athletes as required by the Ted Stevens Amateur Sports Act. This will consist of one compound and one recurve elite athlete. There will also be a 20% representation by independent members to bring a new perspective and unbiased objectivity to our board. One of the two independent members will be required to have a financial expertise.

The remaining seats will consist of constituency groups selected from and voted in by member categories. These will include a representative from the Judges, Coaches, JOAD Club Leaders and the College Program, as well as an “At-Large” director from the general membership. The remaining director will represent the Allied Archery Organizations.

We are posting these Bylaws (see link below) for review by the membership for the next 21 days. After that time, the board will review the comments and vote on the new bylaws. Please contact your Regional Board of Governors Representative if you have any questions, comments or concerns regarding the new bylaws.
