FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 27, 2005
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex and Florida Archery Association hosted the 24th Annual Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) National Championships this past weekend in Orlando, Fla. The event featured over 200 young archers from around the country ranging in age from 6 to 18, including many of the top juniors from around the United States including Junior United States Archery Team (USAT) members and Junior World Champions.
Junior archers are divided by age into four different categories: junior, cadet, cub and bowman The competition format included a FITA round the first two days with each division shooting 36 arrows at four different distances, two on Friday and two on Saturday, for a total of 144 arrows. The Junior U.S. Open, which is a head-to-head elimination round or Olympic Round (OR) was held on Sunday.
JOAD National Outdoor Champions, in all categories, were determined by the ranking on the FITA round.
