Arizona State University (ASU) has officially re-entered competition in the sport of Archery. Archery ceased to be a NCAA sport at ASU in the early 1990’s due to ASU Athletic Department decisions. Until that point, the program had won more national titles (men's archery 15 times, women's archery 21 times, and mixed archery 20 times) than any other athletic group at ASU while additionally boasting numerous World and Olympic team members and medalists. The Sun Devil Archery Club would like to bring that winning tradition back to the Valley. As such, a few dedicated archers have joined together to form a campus club to promote the sport and its competition.
ASU is (as of 2004) the third-largest university in the United States with a student body of 57,543. ASU's main campus is in Tempe, Arizona. Satellite campuses exist in Phoenix (ASU West) and in Mesa (ASU East). A complete curriculum university, with outstanding weather year-round, ASU attracts many National Merit scholars (173 in the 2003 freshman class). Many are part of the Barrett Honors College, which produces nationally recognized students, including 54 Fulbright scholars, 28 Goldwater scholars, and 13 Truman scholars. ASU is becoming a major center for research. Under the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education ASU is classified as a Doctoral/Research University–Extensive; under the previous Carnegie classification, it was considered a Research I University.
The Sun Devil Archery Club is proud of its competitive team, but the group also incorporates recreational and JOAD training into its program. All students, faculty and staff all welcome to join the activities. Beginner equipment can be furnished to those who otherwise would not have access.

Individuals who are interested in becoming a member of the DC Archery Team must be enrolled full-time (12hrs) with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0. In addition, a student-athlete must commit himself/herself to practice. Practice is an essential aspect of the DC Archery Program. As practice is prescribed to an archer, he/she will be incorporated with the time-proven techniques of shooting arrows. The first year of shooting provides student-athletes an intensive, and extensive, exposure to the basic shooting forms of archery.

YALE UNIVERSITY

The Yale Archery Team was created during the 2004-2005 school year by Tina Jeon (BK '08). Currently we hold club status and are comprised primarily of students from Yale College, but also have participants from the graduate and professional schools. We do have national competitors and experienced archers, but no prior experience is necessary to join.
Connecticut is recognized as having some of the best archers in the country, and has a number of ranges. We've secured space in Payne Whitney, the largest gymnasium in the world, so there never will be a shortage of practice space. We will meet early in the mornings to train and a schedule will be provided at the beginning of each term.
The club practices in the early mornings -- practices are set for 7am but team members are allowed in the gym as early as 6am. Participation is booming and there is a lot of excitement due to the high interest shown in the program.
Please contact the president and captain of the team if you have any questions at Tina.Jeon@Yale.edu
