After qualifying 5th, the PSE team of 2004 Olympian Jenny Nichols (Cheyenne, Wyo.), Mandy Nichols (Cheyenne, Who.) and Joy Fahrenkrog (Castle Rock, Colo.) representing the U.S. missed a top four finish by just one point, losing to the team from Great Britain in the quarterfinals. The U.S. team finished 6th overall. The British team went on to win the silver losing to the Ukraine. China came in third.
Individually, Jenny Nichols qualified in 3rd place, Mandy Nichols in 27th and Fahrenkrog in 29th. Jenny Nichols had the best Olympic round finish of the American women coming in 5th. After beating Karasiova from Belarus in the 1/32nd round 164-150, she then beat France’s Delamare 157-150. In the quarterfinals she faced China’s Hui losing 113-107 (which was erroneously reported as 113-101). Both Fahrenkrog and Mandy Nichols were knocked out in the first round, Fahrenkrog losing to Japan’s Suga 149-145 to finish 36th and Mandy Nichols losing to Russia’s Dardanova 143-140 finishing 40th.
