COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The 2006 United States Intercollegiate Archery Championship (USIAC) was held May 19-21 in Los Angeles, Calif. The event was hosted by The University of California, Los Angles (UCLA) and the UCLA Archery Club. This year’s USIAC also served as the team trials for the 2006 World University Championships, which will be held June 12-18 in Vinicné, Slovakia

Brian Christensen (Colorado State University) took the collegiate national title in the men’s recurve category after defeating Dakota Sinclair (Saddleback College) on the second arrow of a tie breaker, shooting a 10 to Sinclair’s 8. They were tied at 105 at the end of the 12 arrow gold medal match. Sinclair took the silver while Jacob Wukie (James Madison University) claimed the bronze after beating UCLA’s Stanley Cheng 104-89.

In the women’s recurve category, Lindsay Pian (Arizona State University) took home the gold after defeating 2004 Paralympian Lindsey Carmichael (University of Texas) 104-98 in the finals. Carmichael took home the silver and Carissa Dragan (California State University Long Beach) defeated Danielle McCullough (Westminster College) 99-93 to win the bronze.

For the compound men, last year’s USIAC silver medalist Jedd Greshock (James Madison University) beat Logan Wilde (Idaho State University) 115-112 to claim the gold. Wilde took the silver, while last year’s USIAC Champion Braden Gellenthien (James Madison University) took home the bronze after defeating JMU teammate Stephen Schwade 117-115.
