Tournament Information

The National Archery Association of the United States is please to extend this invitation for your participation in this year’s National Championships in Colorado Springs, CO. We encourage you to share information from this registration packet with your fellow archers. A separate registration is required for each participant, so you may make photocopies of the registration for use by others.

Venue: The site will be at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs, CO, which is located at 1605 East Pikes Peak Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80909. Colorado Springs is 60 miles from Denver International Airport.

Banquet Information: The banquet will be catered this year by Fazoli's and will be held at the historical Penrose House Garden Pavilion.  For directions to  the Penrose House, click here

Format: The general format will be similar to that of recent years…two (2) full FITA rounds to determine the U.S. National Champions, followed by the U.S. Open Elimination Round on Saturday, August 5, 2006. To ensure internationally consistent tournament procedures, multiple target faces will be used at 30 meters for the Senior, Master 50+, and Junior divisions (except Barebow). Masters 60+ and 70+ will shoot single-spot faces.

U.S. Open: The U.S. Open on Saturday, Aug. 5 is a FITA Olympic Elimination Round shot at 70m. Competitors are selected based on their double FITA Round scores at the National Target Championships. The top 64 in each category (men's recurve/barebow, women's recurve/barebow, men's compound, women's compound) from the combined Master, Senior and Junior classes (U.S. and International archers combined) will qualify for the U.S. Open. If a division has less than 64 eligible competitors, it will be cut to the top 32. Prize money in the amount of $250-1st place, $150-2nd place, $100 3rd place and $50-4th place will be awarded for each division in the U.S. Open. As in 2005, all recurve archers will shoot the 1/32-1/4 matches in the morning. All Compound archers will shoot the 1/32-1/4 matches immediately following the finish of the recurve matches. Both the recurve and compound categories will shoot the semi-finals and finals on the Youth Field following a short break after the compound 1/32-1/4 matches. Awards will be presented on the field immediately following the competition.

Disabled Archers: This will be an IPC (International Paralympic Committee approved tournament. Scores shot will be able to be used for ranking and records. All AR archers should bring copies of their classification cards. There will be a classification workshop held before the tournament; contact Randi Smith (hotshot@xmission.com) for more information.

AR classes are equivalent to international W classes. AR1/W1 archers have upper and lower body disabilities. They can use a compound bow (max. 45 lbs for men, 35 lbs for women). No peep sights or magnification
are allowed.

AR2/W2 archers shoot recurve bows from wheelchairs.

AR3/W3/ARST/WST archers shoot recurve bows from either standing or sitting (stools or chairs) positions.

AR OPEN/W OPEN archers are officially classified into one of the above classes and shoot all together. They shoot compound bows, following FITA rules.

Requirements: Advance registration is mandatory for all divisions except for the Team Competition, which will be handled on-site. U.S. Citizens must be NAA or NFAA members (thru August 5, 2006), and eligible according to FITA rules. NFAA members should enclose a copy of their current membership card (showing expiration date) with their registration. NAA members should submit renewal fees with their registration if they will not be current thru August 5, 2006. All NAA & NFAA members will be asked to present a current NAA or NFAA membership card when checking in at the tournament registration desk on Monday, July 31, 2006 or be prepared to purchase an NAA membership upon arrival. International participants are welcome.

Registration and Confirmation: Please note that the Postmark Deadline is Friday, July 7, 2006 to avoid a late registration fee. Registration fees, late fees and the cancellation policy are detailed on the Registration Form.

Dress Code: The NAA dress code will be in effect for all Official Practice rounds and competition. Skirts, skorts, shorts or trousers may be either white, navy blue or khaki and may be constructed of any suitable material other than blue denim. Shorts and skirts must reach the archer's fingertips when standing. Blouses, collared shirts and T-shirts may be composed of any color or combination of colors except camouflage. For women, all upper garment shoulder straps must conform to a three inches or larger strap width. Men are required to wear long or short-sleeved shirts. All shirts must adequately cover the midriff (midsection) during competition. At no time may camouflage clothing be worn as an upper or lower body garment. Accessories such as caps, quivers, armguards, footwear, etc. made of camouflage material are permitted.  
Competitors must wear footwear at all times during the tournament. Each archer must comply with FITA regulation as well as the NAA dress code.
